I know prioritizing your well-being can be both scary and freeing. When facing unexpected challenges and uncertainties, it is critically important to find a safe and trusting connection in therapy. I work carefully to create a compassionate and inclusive space that allows you to openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and wishes. My approach is interactive, warm, and collaborative. Together, we'll look at the thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs that no longer benefit you so you can mend your heart, grow in your relationships and connections, practice self-care, and embrace yourself.
With over 20 years of experience as a clinical social worker, I've worked in community mental health agencies, in geriatric departments, on oncology and palliative care teams in both outpatient and inpatient settings, and as a director of client care at a cancer support center. I am passionate about individuals being able to make meaning of their own story and improve their quality of life no matter what difficult event or diagnosis they are facing. I have supported individuals living with cancer, COPD, CHF, dementia and other life limiting illnesses, caregivers, and those that are bereaved. I have extensive end-of-life experience.
I incorporate many therapeutic approaches in my trauma-informed clinical practice such as Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Attachment therapy, and Mindfulness. I am trained in Tapping, also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), and in Peggy Huddleston's Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster© model.
